Thousands of free eBooks and audiobooks in Ukrainian In order to provide Ukrainians with a range of free reading, listening, learning and entertainment opportunities, multimedia contact provider Odilio launched a free app for both Android and iOS in early April. Available across Europe, the app includes 3000 e-books and audiobooks in a variety of genres, including 1700 Ukrainian titles and 500 in English. There is material for both children and adults. We hope that everyone - from social workers to host families - will draw the attention of the refugees to this app. To offer them the support, pleasure or comfort of reading, learning and listening in these difficult and uncertain times. The Summer Reading Challenge is coming soon The 2022 Summer Reading Challenge is called ‘Gadgeteers’ (starting on 2 July) and will celebrate the key role of the imagination in both reading and the sciences. ******************************** Developed in partnership with the Science Museum Group, the 2022 Challenge will show children that science is all around us every day and inspire them to unleash their curiosity and creativity! **************************** The Challenge will be set in a fictional summer holiday club where our young innovators, or ‘Gadgeteers’, will come together to use creative thinking and teamwork to plan the best ever party for the town’s celebratory summer fair. Challenge participants will meet six fun characters and help them come up with cool inventions for the summer party. They will be introduced to many aspects of science engagement, including food, fashion, music, and sport – something for everyone to enjoy ************************************* All Dorset Council schools receive an invite for an assembly visit by library staff, so do look out for our invitation email as dates do get booked up quickly, we want to inspire as many children as possible to take part in this fantastic reading challenge. ********************** Last year we had 4500 children starting the challenge with just over 3000 completing. Let's go big for Gadgeteers this year, and reach 6000 children starters with 5000 children completing, encourage children to join the challenge and be part of the biggest national reading challenge for children |
